Animal Themed Narration Art Cards

Animals help bring creative writing to life.

Nothing is perhaps easier to write about than animals.  Look in any children's section in a public library if you don't believe me.  Animals can have personalities, get into mischief, be a hero or a friend or they can be just a simple beautiful creature to describe.  These writing worksheets help children practice the skills of drawing, penmanship, writing and narration to illustrative prompts (aka story starters) featuring a number of different animals.

Learners use the picture provided to inspire their writing by starting with the illustrative prompt, finishing the picture, and writing about some aspect of their artistic creation.  To finish learners need only fold the worksheet in half and glue.  If a few are created, they can be bound by hand sewing, inserting the collection in a duo-tang cut in half or binding using brads, rings, twine, yarn or even a twist tie in a pinch.

Finished cards can be shared with other learners asking each reader to look at the picture and try and guess what is going on in it.  They can then read their writing.  This is always a lot of fun for learners regardless of their art or writing skill levels.
