Venn Diagrams for Homeschoolers Featuring Animals
Let's Learn About Animals
Use the Venn diagrams below to explore and compare and contrast animals and animal groups.
To use these lead-in worksheets, simply decide what kind and how much information needs to be given about each animal or group to successfully help children draw conclusions from their comparisons. Information could include such things as name, number of legs, mode of transportation, animal group, skin covering, Latin name (genus/species), diet, habitat, geographical location habitat, endangered vs. domesticated status, and so forth.
The next thing to decide is how you want the diagram filled in. Do you want full and complete sentences or will a single term suffice? Can the learner draw the animal and then point out details with terms or can they draw the individual details such as drawing a piece of meat to represent carnivorous animal? Perhaps you would only like to focus on the habitats of different animals in which case drawing could be a fine idea? It is completely up to you and the needs of your learner.
Venn diagrams can be used with younger or older learners provided that the data and completion requirements are do-able for your child. Children of many different age groups find Venn diagrams fun and useful.
