Printable Friend Cards
for Homeschoolers
It is often said that you
can't have too many friends. This can be especially true when you
are trying to do a learning task that requires the input from many
different individuals. You know the kind I mean? The type
you need for graphing in math or studying individuality and diversity in
social studies - How many of your friends prefer a dog to a cat as a pet?
Some homeschools are
blessed with many children so group work is often not an issue.
Sometimes in smaller homeschools, co-ops, or even traditional classrooms, there are not enough
children to make math tasks easy to facilitate and complete. This is especially true for graphing, percentage
use, and fractions. Although one could call relatives and friends
outside the home, this could prove to be a very time consuming task
during your regular learning schedule.
Consider making a set of
printable My Friend Cards for the learning year. These
cards are fun, easy, and quick to make. Each child could make
their own set or have children make sets to combine together as one big
family set.

Cards come with a variety
of friends to choose from. There are different coloured
backgrounds to help differentiate friends or sets of friends.
There are also options to colour your own background or colour your own
friend. Plus we have included a template for the child who wants
to draw and colour in their own friend.

Cards require basic
information to be filled in about this friend: name, age, hobbies,
etc. This information could be based on a real person or
completely made up. Parents could fill in the information to help
provide desired results or children could fill it in based on their real friends,
characters from books, saints, historians, or whomever they wish.
Space has been provided to add additional details about the friend to
suit curriculum needs or fun play. This is a great resource to
help teach about diversity, individuality, and friendship. This
could even be used in a CCD classroom to help teach about Creation and
how we are made in God's image but through the uniqueness of our soul
share differences as well as similarities.
