Colour in the Fun!!

 Burgess Books Colouring & Art Sheets

Thornton Burgess lived from 1874-1965.  He was a talented writer and conservationist that used his gentle writing style to reach children of all ages.  With over 150 stories written about animals and nature for children, there is sure to be something that appeals to every child.  His works are in the Public Domain and can be enjoyed freely by all.

As we read through some of the Burgess' stories, our children wanted colouring sheets to go along with them, so we created sheets of animals in the story that could be used for colouring or art and drawing projects.  Some of these public domain images are darker and so the children have drawn backgrounds or habitats around them.  This has become a favourite activity during read-aloud sessions, even more enjoyable than straight colouring.  Other images are very detailed and can only really be appreciated using coloured pencils.  At any rate, we encourage you to test your children's imagination skills with these art and colouring sheets.
