Use these oversized calendar pieces to create a great family calendar that can be used over and over again. As it reinforces concepts of time for young ones, you can add loads of fun to your learning month. Remember saint and liturgical feast days and holidays with specially designed pieces that complement each monthly theme.
Start by making a general template from plain dime store poster-board (7 columns by 6 rows, counting the days of the week titles). Don't forget to leave a bit of space to put on the border decals! Print out the files that you want and cut apart the pieces on the lines. You can use cardstock for durability or laminate plain paper pieces for longevity. Then arrange and affix your pieces to your prepared poster-board or bulletin board as shown in the picture above. Themes change monthly to keep the calendars fun and fresh. Numbers for all days are given with the option to substitute liturgical days and holidays provided. Not all saint feast days are listed nor all liturgical notations.
Oversized Monthly Wall Calendar With Monthly Themes
These monthly resources include traditional themes like Easter for April and Mother's Day for May but we also tried to include non-traditional themes like Music in August and The Old West in September to accommodate families that do not live in the Northern Hemisphere.
You will find that many months have pieces for 31 days even though there aren't as many actual days in the month. We have done this because some families like to use these themes outside of the designated month. So we have slowly switched over to making 31 day pieces for all sets. It is always neat to hear how you are using the resources. Some families mix and match themes or use the saint/liturgical days for uses outside of the wall calendar. Great!!
