The Unit Study MethodThis method of learning combines multiple academic subjects together around one unifying topic. Topics of unit studies generally surround the topics of science and social studies - including history, geography, and culture studies. Many homeschooling families like using the unit study method because of the freedom they have in choosing study topics as well as the fact that they can cover the same material with multiple aged learners at the same time. Because of its flexibility of content and structure, multiple popular learning tools can compliment this method such as project learning, notebooking, or lapbooking. Although it can take a bit of time to develop studies and gather resources for them, many families find the effort well worth it and rewarding.
