Yummy Daily Spelling Lesson Pack

Sweet treats have inspired this phonics based spelling lesson pack.
Grade K-3 learners will enjoy these yummy themed resources for spelling practice. This lesson pack covers 36 different weekly word lists. Phonetically based word lists begin with short vowel sounds, then move to long vowel sounds, simple beginning blends and progress to much harder words with ending blends and basic info such as days of the week, months of the year and more. These resources, based on spelling lists of ten word each, make phonetic and spelling practice fun. Learners may progress through the lessons at their own pace allowing for mastery when they are ready regardless if it is three days or three weeks. Lists grow to be quite challenging and some may opt to slow from once a week goals to once every two weeks for younger students.
Begin this lesson by creating the spelling passport. Print out the appropriate pieces to the spelling passport and assemble. The instructions are included on the files, downloadable in .pdf format.
Next, decide if you would like to follow the word list order proposed in the passport or if you would like to make up your own word list order. We suggest following the order presented as the phonics topics build upon each other, but it is not a hard and fast rule. The word lists are based on these basic info and phonics topics:
Short ă Words, Short ĭ Words, Short ŏ Words, Short ŭ Words, Short ĕ Words, Short Vowel Words, Long ā Words, Long ī Words, Long ō Words, Long ū Words, Long ē Words using ēē, Long ā Homonyms, Long ē & ō Homonyms, Words with -ss and -ff, Words Ending with -ck, Words Beginning with qu-, Words with -th and -wh, ch- and sh- Rhyming Words, fl- and sl- Rhyming Words, Words with cl- and gl-, Words with bl- and pl-, Words with dr- and fr-, Words with br- and pr-, Words with cr- and gr-, Words with sp- and st-, Words with sn- and sm-, Words with sc-, sk- and sw-, Words with tr- and tw-, Words with -st and -sk, Words with -nd and -nt, Words with -mp, Words with ct, -ft, -lt and -pt, Days of the Week, Months of the Year, Colours, Numbers 1-10.
