Learning is hard work!!  Learners need to not only learn new information but in order to do so they need to sustain their interest in the material.  This need for continued attention and energy for areas they may not be truly interested in can be quite taxing.  (Remember the last time you had to do something you didn't want to do?)  Games make learning things exciting, interesting and sustainable.  There is truly a place for games in education.  Besides, it's much easier to teach to smiles than frowns.
