The Bible is perhaps the most awesome work ever created yet many of us have never read it cover to cover. As Catholics, we are exposed to God's word in the Holy Mass, but not nearly as much as we might think. Many Catholics believe that we hear the entire Bible every three years, if we attended Mass daily. This is simply not the case. According to the Roman Catholic Lectionary Website, Fr. Felix Just, S.J., Ph.D. points out that there are some books of the Bible that we don't even touch upon like Judith, Obadiah, and 1 Chronicles. Even the New Testament has us reading only 24 percent of Jude and 2 Peter at best. The only book that is read in entirety is 1 John. Amazing, isn't it?

The Catholic Church knows that reading the Bible is important for our proper faith formation, that is why there are at least three different indulgences available for daily scripture reading. Get to know all of God's word and help your learners get to know God in His wisdom, goodness, and mercy through His word too. Who knows, on Judgment Day He may just ask you, "So, how did you like My book?" What will be your answer?
