Big Books of Narration for Saint Stories

The lives of our Lord's holy helpers, the saints, are some of the most interesting and engaging stories children, as well as adults, can every hope to read.  They teach us about the Gospel in a very real way.  They were living testimonies to the power of charity  and love.  When we study about the saints we also learn history and geography at the same time as religious truths and church history.  Although many saint stories end in martyrdom, not all of them do.  Many teach great truths without death but rather highlight self-sacrifice and service to others.

You will find titles below to stories which we have read in our own family.  Although written for specific titles, many have chosen to use the writing sheets even is they don't have the full series or even the book at home.  They simply use them as narration sheets.  The writing sheets are very easy to use.  We've tried to give you a quick glimpse of what the pages may look like.  The finished products are very nice and are not only a nice keepsake, but also a great proof of learning.  See our Big Books of Narration main page to see how to put them together.

As with each work we create, we try to add a little something unique to highlight in the narration activities.  You will see in optional saint biography sheet that could be added into any work you are using with lines.  It highlights the biographical data of the saint which many times is separate from a story that may be shared in the literary work.  It's just an optional piece that our children requested we add.  We though some of you may find it useful.  Simply print out and add as many sheets needed to your narration project.

Progress sheets have been included for some of the titles.  These sheets were a way we came up with to keep track of the reading and the progress of our children's narration efforts.  In a true Charlotte Mason style, these progress sheets help to provide a reading schedule to allow the book to be savoured rather than consumed by eager readers.  Slow digestion of the work helps to bring the plot, setting, and characters to life.  Of course, feel free to do whatever works for your family or to omit the progress sheets all together.  We are just sharing what worked for us.
