Big Books of Narration for History

History can be one of the most exciting subjects that children encounter.  Usually filled with adventurous plots and heroic or disastrous characters, it teaches us about the activities of our ancestors from the very beginning of the world to the present moment of our existence in the world we live in.

You will find titles below to historical fiction works that we have read in our own little homeschool.  The writing sheets are very easy to use.  We've tried to give you a quick glimpse of what the pages may look like with the download links below.  The finished products are very nice and are not only a nice keepsake, but also a great proof of learning.  See our Big Books of Narration main page to see how to put them together.

We have also included progress sheets for some of the titles.  These sheets were a way we came up with to keep track of the reading and the progress of our children's narration efforts.  In a true Charlotte Mason style, these progress sheets help to provide a reading schedule to allow the book to be savored rather than consumed by eager readers.  Slow digestion of the work helps to bring the plot, setting, and characters to life.  Of course, feel free to do whatever works for your family or to omit the progress sheets all together.  We are just sharing what worked for us.
