Piecing it all together for Catholic Homeschoolers
What's New With Us
Love God, serve God: everything is in that.
-- St. Clare of Assisi
A Time For Charity!!
This
month let us focus our learning on Charity aka Love. We
sometimes focus on love in February because of St. Valentine's Day holiday but
we should also do so because Lent begins this month as well. Add the Presentation of our Lord
as an act of obedient love, the Chair of St. Peter as vicarious love, meditations on The Stations of the Cross and Friday fasting as
sacrificial love, and we've got a whole month of charity. As always in
our homeschool family, we try to focus and align our learning for the month
with a theme. Look for various resources throughout our site having to do with
Charity.
Use our My Book Mini-books to learn about the virtue of Love, St. Valentine and more

Spiritual Quote of the Moment
"You learn to speak by speaking, to study by studying, to run by running, to work by working, and just so, you learn to love by loving. All those who think to learn in any other way deceive themselves."
~ St. Francis de Sales
We included this quote by St. Francis de Sales not only because it encourages us to follow in Christ's footsteps and serve each other in charity as He did, but because it tells us to do so through hands-on learning. If you think that learning only takes place with a book, in a class, or within a structured program, you may want to rethink this idea through. Remember that the miracles that Jesus performed were for the benefit of those who had to see to believe, those who couldn't understand from mere words alone or those who needed reinforcement to complete their understanding. We leave you with this thought: Jesus saw the importance of hands-on learning. Shouldn't we?

O God, You have chosen the apostles to make disciples of all nations and by baptism and confirmation have called all of us to build up Your Holy Church. We earnestly implore You to choose from among us, Your children, many priests, brothers, and sisters, who will love You with their whole heart and will gladly spend their entire lives to make You known and loved by all. Amen.
